Oregon Rental Housing Association manages most of our business through the Association Committees.  Association committees are vital components of organizational governance and operations. They are established to carry out specific tasks, provide expertise, and ensure that the association meets its objectives efficiently. The duties of these committees may vary based on long range and short range objectives.

1. Strategic Planning and Oversight

Many association committees are tasked with helping to shape the strategic direction of the organization. This includes reviewing the association’s mission, setting goals, and developing plans to achieve those goals. Committees often monitor progress, assess risks, and make recommendations to the board or leadership.

2. Financial Management

Finance or budget committees typically oversee the association’s financial health. Their duties may include reviewing budgets, monitoring expenses, approving expenditures, and ensuring that financial practices meet legal and ethical standards. They also prepare financial reports for the board and members.  Individuals involved include the elected Treasurer,  appointed finance committee members, and a bookkeeper.

3. Membership

Membership committees are responsible for recruiting new members, retaining existing ones, and developing programs to engage the membership. They organize outreach events, manage membership records, and address concerns or suggestions from members.

4. Nominations

Nominating committees ensure that the association’s leadership is elected fairly and that governance policies are followed. They foster and support new leadership. They review bylaws, propose amendments, oversee election procedures, and vet candidates for leadership positions.

7. Advocacy

Advocacy committees represent the association’s interests to external stakeholders, such as government agencies or the public. They may develop policy positions, draft statements, organize advocacy campaigns, and monitor legislative or regulatory developments affecting the association.

Association committees serve as the backbone of effective organizational operations. By dedicating their expertise and time to specific areas, these committees help associations fulfill their missions, maintain transparency, and foster member engagement. Clear definition of duties and regular review of committee performance are essential for continued success. Below is a list of our current committees.  Some are in transition and are being renamed.
